Privacy Policy
What happens to your information if you reach out to us through this website — in plain English, because you should not need a lawyer to read a privacy policy.

The contact form
If you fill out our contact form, we collect your first and last name, your email address, your organization if you give it to us, what you are interested in if you tell us, and whatever message you write. We only collect what you type in.
We also record which country your request came from. We work that out automatically from your connection, not from anything you type, and we use it for one reason: to catch spam. We do not store your IP address at all.
What we don't do
We don't run analytics on this site. We don't use advertising pixels. We don't set tracking cookies. If you browse the site without filling out a form, we don't collect anything about you.
Like any website, ours sits behind a host that keeps standard server records — the ordinary technical log of requests reaching a server, kept for security and reliability. We don't build those into profiles and we don't use them for marketing.
Where your information goes
Your submission goes into a private database and triggers an email to Brian Laney, the owner of Red Diamond Strategic. Nobody else receives it. We don't sell it, and we don't share it for advertising — we have no advertising relationship with anyone, and we are not going to start one.
Three outside services are involved: Cloudflare, which hosts this site and the database; Resend, which delivers our email; and Google Fonts, which supplies the typefaces these pages are set in. None of them uses your information for purposes of their own. The fonts are worth one extra line, because they work differently from the other two: your browser fetches them from Google as the page loads, which means Google sees your IP address and which browser you are using. That happens on every page here, before you type anything. We do not receive that information and we cannot see it.
The newsletter is separate
If you subscribe to The Diamond Gov Brief, that is handled entirely by beehiiv, our newsletter platform, on its own systems. This website never sees or stores a newsletter subscriber's email address — only beehiiv does. You can leave the newsletter at any time using the link in any issue.
How long we keep it
We keep contact form submissions for up to three years from when you send them, so we have a record of the conversation. After that we delete them. If you would rather we deleted yours sooner, just ask.
Your choices
Email [email protected] any time to ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will deal with it within 30 days.
Virginia's privacy law
Virginia's Consumer Data Protection Act applies to companies handling the data of 100,000 Virginia residents a year, or 25,000 if more than half their revenue comes from selling personal data. We are far below both, so the law does not apply to us. We would rather say that plainly than imply otherwise — and we extend the same choices above regardless.
